Who Should Attend?

  • A Parent/Caregiver with infant and Babysitter.

Child First Aid course is a compulsory course for childcare and preschool professionals under the Early Childhood Development Agency’s licensing framework.

Course Objectives:

  • Provide learners with safety information and standards for children and infants in Singapore.
  • Prepare learners with the necessary skills in identifying, planning and managing a medical emergency at home or in school.
  • Equip learners with the skills in rendering first aid for injuries and medical emergencies arising from common accidents among infants, children and adults.
  • Equip learners with the skills in providing effective resuscitation (CPR) to an adult, child and an infant during medical emergencies.

Entry Requirements:

  • Able to speak, read and understand English effectively as the course is conducted in English.
  • Physically fit with no pre-existing medical conditions such as back trouble, knee/spinal/joints injuries, heart/lung conditions etc. Please consult a doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions before proceeding with the course.
  • Trainees who are pregnant or suspect they are pregnant are highly discouraged from taking courses with CPR. Due to safety reason, we strongly discourage trainees from attending the course. It is advisable register for the course after maternity leave has ended.

Important Notes:

  • Part of the assessment requires trainees to do 2 minutes of continuous chest compressions and ventilations and this can be physically strenuous.
  • If you attend the course but opt out of the CPR+AED assessment, you will only be issued with a Certificate of Attendance.

Appointed First Aider under WSHA.

Any individuals with interest in first aid or have been assigned a WSH-related role in the company.

Pre-requisites

  • All participant able to speak, read and understand English effectively (equivalent to the ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 and above standard) effectively as our courses are conducted in English.
  • Must be physically fit and able to perform CPR Skills while kneeling on the floor and to render help to another individual during an emergency.

Course Duration: 3 Days

The Basic Cardiac Life Support and AED Certification course aims to equip you with CPR knowledge and skills for adults and infants, choking relief, and using an AED.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a BCLS+AED certification (with two years validity) accredited by the Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council.

Overview: In this workshop, you will learn how to respond and to provide first aid to medical emergencies in an office setting. These medical emergencies include fainting, seizure, stroke, heart attack and diabetic emergencies. Participants will also get to perform CPR and use the AED during the practical session.

Recommended Duration: 2 hours if it includes CPR+AED and opportunities for hands-on practice. Topics can be omitted or added if the duration is shorter or longer respectively.

CPR+AED Awareness Talk

Overview: In this workshop, you will learn the difference between heart attack and cardiac attack. You will learn how to approach a casualty who is suffering from heart attack and perform quality CPR and use the AED when the casualty collapsed.

Recommended Duration: 2 hours if it includes opportunities for hands-on practice. Topics can be omitted or added if the duration is shorter or longer respectively.

First Aid in Mental Health Awareness Talk

Overview: In this 1 hour workshop, you will learn more about depression, anxiety attacks and warning signs of suicide. You will also learn how to approach a person when he or she is in distress or having a panic attack.

Recommended Duration: 1 hour. If you would like to include time for role-play and discussion, the recommended duration is at 1.5-2 hours. Topics can be omitted or added if the duration is shorter or longer respectively.

Introduction: Contrary to what some individuals may feel, stress does not come from events that happen. Rather, stress comes from how we view the events. Have you noticed that some people seem to be able to handle stress better than others, even though they may all be facing the same situation? This is due to the difference in perspectives that they have towards the external event.

Overview: In this workshop, you will learn how to identify signs of stress, ways to cope with stress and how to approach a person who is going through a stressful period.

Anger Management Workshop

Introduction: Everyone gets angry from time to time and it is a normal human emotion. However, if anger gets out of control, it may cause potential damages to an individual’s daily activities, important relationships in his/her life and overall well-being. Others around him/her may also be negatively affected.

Overview: In this workshop, you will learn how to identify causes of anger, understand what triggers and maintains anger and how to avoid or reduce these triggers. You will also learn how to approach an individual who is going through a stressful moment.

Recommended Duration: 1 hour. Topics can be omitted or added if the duration is shorter or longer respectively.

Overview: In this workshop, you will learn about the counselling process using the Problem-Solving Framework (PADI) and understand mental illness such as psychosis, depression and anxiety attacks.
